getting around
Directions, because this grid only looks simple
North-south numbered streets, a river that is a state line, three campuses that all say “the union” like there is one. A person standing there is still better than a blue dot that thinks 12th is 13th.
The places people actually miss
A lecture hall on the NDSU campus that is not where the map pin claimed. Concordia versus MSUM when you are new to Moorhead. Downtown Broadway versus a GPS that dumped you on a one-way. West Acres from campus without taking the scenic I-29 loop. Post directions. Meet in a public, obvious place — a union door, a coffee shop, a well-lit corner.
A neighbor is not a tour
They might walk you a block. They might point and describe. They might ride the same MATBUS direction you need. They are not a paid guide and not campus orientation staff. If you want the official tour, the campuses run those. If you want a local-guide style hang, that is a different category with the same safety rules.
Do not share a home pin to get un-lost
The live map is a coarse area until you consent after accept. A public meeting label is enough. Exact location is optional. Report and block if the help turns into something else. 911 if you are actually unsafe, not merely turned around.
Questions people actually ask
Can someone walk me to the building?
They might. Ask in a sentence. Meet in public. That is still community help, not an official orientation.
Is this only for campus?
No. Downtown Fargo, West Fargo commercial strips, Moorhead’s Center Avenue — anywhere a neighbor could reasonably point.
What if I am new to town?
Read the newcomers pages, then ask. A local-guide request is the broader version of this.

A local guide, not a tour bus

Safety, said plainly
Approximate location, approved helpers only, private chat, public meeting places, and report/block tools. Help Me is not 911.
Help Me is a community app for adults in Fargo–Moorhead. It is not a K–12 student program, not a youth chat, and not campus police.
