The transit reality
MATBUS connects the metro and the campuses, and it works well for the corridors it covers. Outside those corridors, and after evening service ends, the metro assumes a car. Knowing which route actually goes where you are going is the single most valuable local knowledge there is.
Winter is the constraint
A fifteen-minute walk in July is nothing. The same walk in a February wind is a genuine exposure decision, especially if a sidewalk has not been cleared. Plan shorter hops, dress like it is worse than it looks, and do not be proud about waiting somewhere heated.
