How to report or block — without writing an essay

You do not need a thesis. You need the person out of your map, and if they crossed a line, a record that they did.

If you are in danger, stop reading this

Call 911. Leave the place. Campus police if you are on campus and that is the faster official path. The app can wait.

Block vs report

Block is for you: that person should not be in your matching world. Report is for staff: something happened that a human on our side should see. You can do both. You can do them during a live request; safety actions sit one tap away on purpose.

  • You do not have to finish the help to report.
  • You do not have to be polite in the chat while you look for the button.
  • Blocking is not the same as deleting your whole account.
  • Staff can act on reports. We will not narrate the internal process like a crime show.

What to include when you report

What happened, when, and whether you are safe now. If this was a crime, say so to police first. A Help Me report is not a police report. Fargo, Moorhead, and West Fargo each have official reporting paths — including online options for some non-urgent incidents on city sites.

Afterward

Email support@helpme.fyi if you need a person. If you want the account gone, type DELETE in Account. If you want the legal documents, Privacy and Terms live on this site.

Questions people actually ask

Will the other person know I reported them?

Do not use reporting as a chat message. Use the in-app action. If you need distance, block. If you need official law enforcement, call them.

Can I report someone who did not accept my request?

Use the safety tools available on the request and in the account. If something happened off-app, police or campus safety may be the right first call.

Help Me is a community app for adults in Fargo–Moorhead. It is not a K–12 student program, not a youth chat, and not campus police.
