Help MeHelp Me

answer

Do I have to share my exact location?

No — and the app is designed to be useful without it.

Short answer

No. The map works from an approximate area of about 500 meters, and you can post a request with no location shared at all — suitable approved helpers can still be offered it. Precise location only exists after a specific helper accepts and you consent, and it ends when the request is complete.

The facts, in one place

  • Approximate area is the default view.
  • No-location requests are supported.
  • Precise sharing needs an accepted helper plus your consent.
  • On supported iPhones, precision finding requires both people to opt in.

When sharing more is worth it

A five-level parking ramp at eleven at night is the case for it. So is a snow-blind lot where every car is a white lump. When the description would take four messages, precise location saves both of you twenty minutes.

When to keep it coarse

At home, near home, or anywhere you would not want a stranger to be able to return to. Name a public meeting place instead — a store entrance, a campus building, a lit corner of a lot — and walk to it.

Questions people actually ask

Can I turn location off in iOS?

Yes. Location permission is managed in iOS Settings, and turning it off does not lock you out of the app.

Does the helper keep my location afterward?

Exact sharing ends when the request is complete.
