Food assistance — official pantries and benefits, not an app request
Hungry is a county and a pantry problem. It is not a category a neighbor should have to solve out of their trunk.
Benefits follow the county you live in
SNAP and related food support: Cass County Economic Assistance in North Dakota (casscountynd.gov, published 701-241-5761) or Clay County Social Services in Minnesota (claycountymn.gov, 218-299-5200). 211 can tell you which door. Do not apply in the wrong state because the grocery store was across the bridge.
Emergency food on the ground
Great Plains Food Bank (greatplainsfoodbank.org, 701-232-6219) supplies pantries and publishes a Fargo–Moorhead pantry list. Hours move. Use their list or 211 rather than a screenshot from last year.
- Emergency Food Pantry — 1101 4th Ave. N., Fargo, published 701-237-9337. Call; hours are limited weekday windows.
- Dorothy Day Food Pantry (Churches United) — Moorhead, with a West Fargo pantry as well. churches-united.org or 218-656-7495 for current sites.
- Salvation Army Fargo meal site — 304 Roberts St., published 701-232-5565; meal times on Great Plains listings.
- New Life Center meals — 1902 3rd Ave. N., Fargo; public meal times on fargonlc.org.
- Campus food closets exist at some schools — search NDSU, MSUM, or Concordia food pantry / basic needs.
Help Me is the wrong pantry
Do not post a food-insecurity request and hope a stranger brings groceries. Send people here. If you want to help, donate through these programs, not through an unvetted handoff in a lot.
Questions people actually ask
Can a helper drop off groceries?
Help Me is not a food program. Use pantries and county SNAP. Informal grocery drops belong with people you already know, not a first-time match.
I go to school in Moorhead and live in Fargo. Where do I apply?
Usually where you live. Call 211 with both facts if you are unsure.
