What Reddit is
Reddit is a public forum network. Local subs — Fargo, NDSU, sometimes Moorhead — are where people ask for dentist recs, apartment warnings, and what is happening this weekend. Posts are public, searchable, and often immortal. Help, when it happens, is a comment. Anonymity is a feature and a mess.
What Help Me is
Help Me does not karma your jump start. Eligible approved helpers get a short-lived private offer. There is no comment section on the request. Official events come from campus and city feeds with attribution, not from a thread titled “anything fun tonight?” The product is Fargo–Moorhead and iPhone TestFlight, not a national forum.
When to use which
Use Reddit for research, opinions, and the long tail of “has anyone dealt with this landlord.” Use Help Me when you need a person, nearby, now-ish, without putting the ask in a searchable public archive. Use official calendars — in Help Me or on the school site — for actual event times. Use 911 for emergencies. Reddit moderators are not campus police.

You can post anything on Reddit. It will be public. Help Me’s design is a private offer to approved helpers. Different tool.
Does Help Me replace r/Fargo for newcomers?
No. r/Fargo is a forum. Help Me is a neighbor ask plus official event calendars. Newcomers often want both, plus city resource pages.
Are helpers anonymous like Reddit accounts?
Helpers submit identity evidence and wait on a staff decision. Requesters and helpers still meet as people. Chat is private, not nameless on purpose.
