Help Me vs TaskRabbit
If you want to hire a tasker, hire a tasker. If you want a neighbor with jumper cables, that is a different product — and we will not pretend otherwise.
What TaskRabbit is
TaskRabbit is a paid marketplace. You choose a tasker by price, skills, and reviews, schedule work, chat, pay, and tip in the app. Categories are home-services heavy: furniture assembly, mounting, cleaning, moving help, yard work, handyman jobs. The company expanded nationwide, including North Dakota, and publishes a Fargo location with same-day booking language. Taskers set rates. That is a real gig product, and it is useful when you want to buy the work.
What Help Me is
Help Me is not a paid gig marketplace. Helpers are approved community members in Fargo–Moorhead, not contractors for hire. A staff member reviews identity evidence; that is not the background-check language TaskRabbit uses for its own marketplace, and we do not copy it. There is no in-app payment, no hourly rate, no tip flow. One live request, private offer, public meeting place, TestFlight on iPhone.
When to use which
Use TaskRabbit when you want to pay someone to assemble the IKEA, mount the TV, or clean the apartment on a schedule. Use Help Me when the ask is everyday and unpaid — a jump start, a walk to the car, directions, a study session, a box up a stair. If you need a licensed trade, hire a licensed trade. If the car is unsafe to sit with, AAA or 911, not a neighbor and not a tasker you have not booked yet.
Questions people actually ask
Can I pay a Help Me helper like a Tasker?
Help Me is not a paid gig marketplace. Do not expect a paycheck from the app. If you want paid work, use a marketplace built for it.
Does TaskRabbit work in Fargo?
TaskRabbit lists Fargo and surrounding areas as a market. Coverage still depends on which taskers are actually available for your job and time.
Which one background-checks people?
Help Me does not. We review identity evidence with a staff decision. If a paid marketplace’s screening is the reason you are hiring, use that marketplace and read their current policy — we will not speak it for them.
